Active Bystander Training

  • Do you want to work in a great culture, where everyone feels they belong, feels safe to contribute their best and be heard?

Do you want to be part of a movement for change where we all support a compassionate, civil and respectful working culture?

We are looking for passionate people who share our vision to create a community of Active Bystanders to confidently intervene at an early stage preventing harmful behaviours from escalating in our workplaces.

    What’s on offer?

We are on a mission to foster a compassionate, civil, and respectful working culture. As part of this, we are seeking passionate individuals to take the first step to join our Active Bystander community and find out more.

We are offering a 90-minute virtual awareness-raising taster session, where you will:

    • Explore what it means to be an Active Bystander
    • Feel part of a community who understand the possibility to make change happen conversation by conversation
    • Learn more about how to intervene and de-escalate harmful behaviours (when it is physically and psychologically safe to do so)
    • Acquire tools and tips to respond to inappropriate behaviour constructively by showing positive regard for all parties and ‘calling people in’ to encourage them to grow, learn and change for the better.

    • We are looking to make our Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICS the best place to work and create a community of active bystanders - are you ready to support the change we want to see?

      Who Can Apply?

This training is free and open to all our Herefordshire and Worcestershire System colleagues, including health, social care, emergency services and charities, who would like to learn more about being a champion for us to grow a civil and respectful culture in workplaces where we are all able to thrive and be our best selves.

Please do contact us if you are not sure whether you are eligible, and we can help you with more information.

What Are The Training Programme Time Commitments?

The Active Bystander Champion Training will require you to attend 1 day of face-to-face training and will be followed by a monthly online action learning set* lasting 90 minutes each time.

The training is accompanied by a handbook which will support your learning journey and includes greater depth material and space for self-reflection for you to work through at your own pace in the months which follow your attendance on the programme.
